Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this Porter position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum of Grade 10 / Standard 8 or ABET Level 4
- Basic knowledge of Batho Pele Principles
- Understanding of Patients’ Rights and Responsibilities
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Basic telephone etiquette
- Ability and willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays

Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for providing support services within the hospital environment. Key duties include:
- Transporting patients using stretchers or wheelchairs between wards and departments
- Moving patients safely and with care at all times
- Transporting deceased bodies to the mortuary
- Releasing bodies after hours and on weekends to funeral service providers when required
- Cleaning and maintaining stretchers and wheelchairs
- Collecting and distributing hospital equipment within the facility
- Assisting healthcare staff with general support tasks
This role requires physical fitness, attention to detail, and a caring attitude towards patients.
