The following generic minimum requirements apply to all SAPS Administration Officer posts:

Applicants must demonstrate competency in the specific functions related to the post.

Applicants must be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or a National Certificate (Vocational) registered on the National Learner Record Database at a minimum of NQF Level 4.

Applicants must be proficient in at least two official languages, one of which must be English.

Applicants must be citizens of the Republic of South Africa and must provide documentary proof of citizenship.

A valid light motor vehicle driver’s license is required.

Applicants must have no previous criminal convictions and no pending criminal, departmental, or civil cases.

Applicants must not have any visible tattoos when wearing any uniform of the Service.

Screening Process

All applicants will be subjected to a vetting process. This process includes security screening and fingerprint verification. Only candidates who successfully pass the screening process will be considered for appointment.

Additional Requirements

Applicants must be in possession of an applicable certificate or higher qualification accredited by SAQA on NQF Level 5 or above. The qualification should be in a built environment or related field such as Project Management, Business Administration, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a similar relevant discipline.

Successful candidates should demonstrate strong administrative and technical skills. These include project filing, minute taking, document control, and computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

Core Functions

Administration Officers will be responsible for undertaking clerical duties within the project office and providing project management support functions.

Key responsibilities include updating the Project Management Dashboard and the National Treasury IRM system, filing all project deliverables throughout the project lifecycle, and coordinating client meetings.

The role involves managing document control and transmission processes, preparing minutes for client meetings, and ensuring that gateway review templates are completed and properly filed.

Administration Officers must ensure that all project documentation is accurately filed and archived. They will also be responsible for arranging site visits for project teams and assisting project managers with risk register updates and project dashboard compilation.

Additional duties include updating presentations and reports for both internal and external use, assisting with bid specification and tender documentation packaging, and supporting project managers with stakeholder engagement and communication management.

General Information

The closing date for applications is 30 January 2026 at 16:00. Applications submitted after this time will not be considered.

Only the official SAPS application form for salary levels 2 to 12 will be accepted. This form is available on the SAPS website and at SAPS recruitment offices. The previously used Z83 form will no longer be accepted.
