The Purpose
The purpose of this position is to carry out relevant cleaning and/or refuse bin delivery related tasks. These duties may include street cleaning, stacking, sweeping, lane flushing, carcass removal and bin deliveries.

Perform street cleaning and sweeping duties in designated areas.
Clean all refuse bins as required.
Always wear protective clothing and comply with safety standards.
Collect all materials and equipment needed to perform daily tasks.
Clear all spillages when refuse bag breakage occurs.
Clean designated streets using brooms, shovels and litter picking tools.
Fill refuse bags by hand in informal settlements and townships and place them on pavements for collection.
Place filled refuse bags on kerbside or designated areas for collection by street truck teams.
Ensure safety precautionary measures are observed during refuse collection.
Report all safety incidents, equipment faults and injuries to the Team Leader and Operations Supervisor.
Litter pick one side of the street at a time without crossing unnecessarily.
Liaise with members of the public and resolve complaints promptly.
Report service delivery breakdowns to the Team Leader for escalation.
Familiarise yourself with the designated work area.
Distribute refuse bags to consumers according to services provided.
Collect refuse bags and place them in designated stacking areas.
Offload and stack refuse bags properly, ensuring openings face the road.
Remove boxes and maintain cleanliness at stacking points.
Collect new or replacement bins from central stores and load them onto delivery trucks.
Inspect refuse bins for damage before leaving central stores.
Record all bin serial numbers in the delivery register.
Offload new bins at delivery points and collect damaged bins in exchange.
Ensure customers sign delivery receipts and receive copies.
Complete all scheduled bin deliveries.
Ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently.
Perform any additional duties delegated by the supervisor.
Observe all safety and operational procedures at all times.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 10
12 months cleaning or general work experience
No criminal record
Must be physically and mentally fit
Must be a South African citizen
Must reside within the City of Johannesburg (proof of residence required)
Required Competencies and Knowledge
Knowledge of relevant tools, equipment and procedures
Understanding of relevant legislation
Knowledge of company procedures
Ability to follow instructions
Ability to prioritise and execute assigned tasks
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
