Job Description

The North West Department of Social Development is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for four Cleaner vacancies at Sonop Old Age Home in the Bojanala District. Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10 qualification or Adult Education and Training (AET) NQF Level 2.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, materials and equipment.
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic counting.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physically fit and able to perform cleaning duties.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work respectfully in an elderly care environment.
  • Knowledge of workplace hygiene and Occupational Health and Safety practices will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Clean offices, passages, rooms, bathrooms and communal areas.
  • Sweep, mop and maintain floors in assigned areas.
  • Empty waste bins and dispose of waste correctly.
  • Dust furniture, windows and other surfaces.
  • Clean and disinfect toilets and washrooms.
  • Operate cleaning equipment safely and correctly.
  • Monitor cleaning materials and report shortages to supervisors.
  • Store cleaning equipment and chemicals safely after use.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the facility.
  • Follow Occupational Health and Safety regulations at all times.
  • Provide a clean, comfortable and safe environment for residents, visitors and employees.
  • Perform any other cleaning-related duties assigned by management.
