Job Description
The Food Service Aid will perform routine duties within the hospital’s Food Services Unit to ensure that meals are prepared, portioned and distributed according to departmental standards. The position also involves maintaining cleanliness, handling food supplies and ensuring compliance with hygiene and food safety regulations.

Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 qualification.
- Grade 12 (Matric) will be an added advantage.
- Previous experience in a hospital food service environment will be advantageous.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- Ability to perform physically demanding duties.
- Reliable, trustworthy and responsible.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles relating to public service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine duties within the Food Services Unit.
- Operate large-scale food service equipment.
- Prepare, portion and distribute normal and therapeutic meals.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Clean food preparation areas, cold rooms, freezers and storerooms.
- Receive, unpack and store food supplies correctly.
- Follow food safety procedures and departmental policies.
- Assist with stock rotation and storage management.
- Work as a relief staff member within different sections of the unit when required.
- Support the efficient daily operation of the hospital food service department.
