Job Description

Main Purpose of the Job: To prevent loss of life or bodily injury. Reporting to the Waterpark Lifeguard Supervisor, successful applicants will undergo Waterpark training in accordance with Company processes and procedures.

Knowledge Requirements

• Administers First Aid and CPR as per best practice.
• Ability to carry out selected rescue techniques.
• Assess situations and select appropriate rescue techniques.
• Manage and monitor patient progress.
• Maintain qualifications through compulsory annual retests.
• Educate guests on policies and procedures for safety.
• Recognize risks and potential injuries proactively.
• Patrol high-risk areas and ensure safety.

Rescue and Emergency Care

• Maintain international and national safety standards.
• React within national best practice and company standards.
• Follow codes for emergencies based on the severity of the situation.

Facility and Activity Control

• Ensure safety through risk assessment and adherence to SOP.
• Proactively identify and remove threats.

Injury Prevention

• Adhere to SOP’s and enforce facility rules.
• Provide proactive information to guests.

Guest Service

• Follow grooming and dress code as per SOP.
• Maintain visibility and engage with guests according to SOP.

Job Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12 or Grade 11 with Lifeguard Award (NQF 4).
• Current certification in Lifeguard Award (LGA surf, LGA pool).
• At least 2 years of experience in a lifeguard or medical field (e.g., EMS, paramedics).
• Service industry experience is advantageous.
