About the General Worker / Stores Person Position

The successful candidate will assist the warehouse team with the day-to-day movement, checking, picking, packing and storage of stock. The position also involves maintaining a clean and organised warehouse and assisting with various operational tasks as directed by management.

Applicants should be able to work accurately, follow instructions and meet deadlines while working both independently and as part of a team.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate may be required to perform the following duties:

Clean and maintain the warehouse.
Assist with checking customer and branch orders.
Assist the assemblies department with assembling stock items when assigned.
Conduct first checks on Cape Town orders.
Ensure that items are correctly picked, checked and packed according to the picking ticket or invoice.
Ensure checking and picking tickets are correctly signed off.
Check that quantities of stock correspond with the relevant picking or checking ticket.
Assist with packing orders when required.
Assist with packing received shipments and returned stock onto shelves.
Perform reasonable tasks and instructions given by management.
Assist with general warehouse housekeeping and cleaning.
Empty bins and remove empty boxes from warehouse aisles.
Ensure empty boxes are destroyed and placed in the designated outside bin.
Ensure picking tickets are completed correctly.
Record the correct date and time of completion on picking tickets.
Assist with repackaging old or damaged stock.
Pick customer and branch orders according to standard operating procedures and training.
Ensure orders are picked accurately and on time.
Assist with stock-order checking when required.
Assist with wrapping pallets when required.
Assist with the offloading of container shipments.
Assist with stock takes and cycle counts.
Carry out other reasonable duties and instructions required to achieve company objectives.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this warehouse position, applicants should meet the following minimum requirement:

School Certificate – minimum Grade 10.

Warehouse Experience

Previous warehouse experience is not stated as an absolute minimum requirement. However, having at least 1 year of working experience in a warehouse environment would be beneficial.
