Dis-Chem Security Officer Vacancies
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for suitably qualified and registered security personnel to join its security team. This opportunity may be suitable for candidates who have a valid Grade C PSIRA accreditation and understand security procedures, emergency response and workplace safety.

Grade C PSIRA accreditation

Relevant Health and Safety training or exposure

A clear criminal record
Good credit record where required
A valid driver’s licence where applicable
Reliable transport where required
PDP when deployed as a driver
Security Officer Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, customers, company property and assets.
Understanding Site Security Measures
Security officers must understand the security measures that have been implemented at the site.
This includes knowing access control procedures, emergency procedures, patrol requirements and other security measures used to protect the premises.
Observation and Quick Decision-Making
Security personnel must remain alert throughout their shift.
They must be able to quickly interpret what they see and take appropriate action according to the situation.
Any suspicious behaviour, unusual activity or potential security threat should be identified and reported without unnecessary delay.
Emergency and Crisis Response
Security officers may be required to respond to emergencies and dangerous situations.
During a crisis, officers must remain calm, alert and professional.
They must follow the correct emergency procedures and respond quickly to protect people and property.

Security officers must understand how to respond to different dangerous situations according to industry requirements and Dis-Chem Standard Operating Procedures.
This may include incidents involving theft, violence, assault, suspicious individuals or other security threats.
Calling for Assistance
During serious incidents, security officers must request assistance immediately.
For example, during an armed robbery, assault involving a dangerous weapon or another serious emergency, the police and relevant emergency services should be contacted according to company procedures.
The priority should always be the safety of people and the protection of property.
Recording Incidents
Security officers must keep accurate records of unusual occurrences and daily activities.
This may include:

Minimum Competencies
Essential Competencies
Applicants should have:
Knowledge of PSIRA requirements
Knowledge of security procedures
Fire emergency training or exposure
Relevant Health and Safety training or exposure
Good English communication skills
Ability to read and write English
Ability to communicate clearly with customers, employees and supervisors
Advantageous
Knowledge of an additional South African language will be an advantage.
