About the Position
eThekwini Municipality is inviting applications from suitably qualified and motivated candidates for the position of Electronic Installer. The successful candidate will provide technical support to the Electronic Services Unit by assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of CCTV systems, fibre optic infrastructure, and other electronic equipment used by the municipality.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates with Electrical Technology qualifications who are looking to build a long-term career in municipal technical services.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent with Electrical Technology
Minimum of 1 year relevant working experience
Valid unrestricted Code B, Code C or Code EB driver’s licence
Good communication skills
Ability to work independently and within a team
Willingness to work outdoors in different weather conditions
Physically fit to perform installation and maintenance duties
Preferred Requirements
Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent
Currently studying towards a Trade Certificate
Two years relevant experience in electronic installations or maintenance
Knowledge of CCTV and fibre optic systems
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the installation of CCTV cameras, fibre optic networks, and other electronic systems.
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electronic equipment.
Support technical teams with daily installation and repair work.
Remove electronic equipment for repairs and laboratory testing.
Clean installation sites and maintain work areas during maintenance activities.
Collect and deliver equipment, materials, and parcels to suppliers and service providers.
Perform routine inspections on CCTV, video, audio, fibre optic, and electronic systems.
Assist with administrative duties within the Electronic Services Unit.
Ensure all installations comply with municipal safety standards.
Report equipment faults and maintenance requirements to supervisors.
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
Complete maintenance reports and job records accurately.
