Job Description
The General Worker will perform cleaning, maintenance support and production-related duties throughout the abattoir. The successful applicant will ensure that designated production areas remain clean, equipment is maintained in good working condition and operational processes continue efficiently throughout each production shift.

Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 (Matric) or NQF Level 4 qualification.
Basic maintenance or machinery knowledge will be an advantage.
Physically fit and able to perform manual labour.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Willingness to work in warm production areas.
Comfortable working in an abattoir environment.
Prepared to work overtime, shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.
Good communication skills.
Ability to follow instructions and workplace procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Clean the DAF unit, feather press, sump pit and feather processing area.
Wash production equipment according to hygiene procedures.
Report damaged machinery and equipment to supervisors.
Assist with inspections of production equipment during start-up.
Monitor machinery and report breakdowns immediately.
Assist with replacing plucker fingers during scheduled maintenance.
Ensure valves, pumps, scrapers and screens remain operational.
Prepare the sump pit area before production begins.
Ensure feather processing areas are clean and production ready.
Prepare the water sieve unit before daily operations.
Support production staff where required.
Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
Follow food safety and hygiene procedures at all times.
Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Comply with all company health and safety regulations.

Working Environment
